Falcons Win Thriller

The Atlanta Falcons won a thriller today, 30-28 over the Carolina Panthers. Matt Bryant kicked two field goals in the final five minutes including his 40 yard field goal with ten seconds left to seal the win.
The Falcons vaunted defense had a rough time handling Cam Newton, as the Panthers scored the most points against the Falcons this season. The Falcons didn't have an interception for the first time in a game this season, but they did record three sacks, including one on the final play by defensive end John Abraham.
Matt Ryan had another superb day, throwing for 369 yards and three touchdowns but he did throw an interception, which is only his second this year in four games. Michael Turner finally had a productive game, rushing for 103 yards, easily his highest output so far this year. He also had three catches, including a 60 yard touchdown catch, the first touchdown reception of his nine year career.
Wide receiver Roddy White had a fantastic day, including the biggest catch of the day. With the Falcons pinned on their own one yard line and less than a minute to go, Ryan threw a pass that White hauled in for a 59 yard catch. It was a tremendous catch that helped set up Bryant's field goal, and ultimately another Falcons victory. White finished the day with eight catches for 169 yards.
The Falcons improved to 4-0 on the year. They are the first Falcons team to do that since they were led by Michael Vick back in 2004. Next week they will try to improve to 5-0 and they have to beat the Washington Redskins to do so. Quarterback Robert Griffin III, or RG3, has given the Redskins new life, so it should be a tough match for Atlanta, but ultimately another Falcons win.
