Braves Exercise Option on Gonzalez

The Atlanta Braves announced they exercised the contract option on manager Fredi Gonzalez for the 2014 season. Gonzalez is now guaranteed another two years as Braves' manager.
Gonzalez took over in 2011 after longtime legend Bobby Cox retired as the Braves' skipper. In his two years as the Braves' manager, Gonzalez has compiled a 183-141 record. In 2011, it appeared Gonzalez was going to lead the Braves to the playoffs in his first season, but a horrible September cost the Braves a postseason berth. 2012 was different, as Gonzalez led the Braves to the postseason with a 94-68 record. The Braves didn't get far though, losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in the one-game Wild Card playoff. He will hope to get them further into the postseason in 2013.
