The Atlanta Braves announced they re-signed outfielder Reed Johnson on Thursday. The deal was a one-year contract with a club option for 2014.
Johnson, who will turn 36 in two days, was the top pinch hitter in the National League last year. He went 18 for 43 as a pinch hitter for a .419 average. Overall he batted .290 with three home runs and 20 RBI's last season, split between the Braves and the Chicago Cubs. 2013 will be Johnson's eleventh year in the big leagues. He will be one of the teams' top pinch hitters along with being the main backup to all three outfielders.
