Hawks Take Down Grizzlies on Road

The Atlanta Hawks picked up their second win in as many days, beating the team with the best record in the NBA. After beating the Washington Wizards last night at home, the Hawks traveled to Memphis and won on Saturday night, 93-83.
The Grizzlies were winning at the half 47-41 but fell apart offensively in the second half and only scored 36 points. It was only the Grizzlies second loss at home this year. Zach Randolph had a double-double to lead the Grizzlies, scoring eighteen points and pulling down thirteen rebounds. Marc Gasol also scored eighteen points, Rudy Gay had seventeen and Mike Conley added twelve. The loss drops the Grizzlies to 14-4 on the year, which would drop them behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the best record in the Western Conference and in the NBA.
The Hawks had a decent first half against Memphis, but it was the third quarter that won them the game. The Hawks outscored the Grizzlies 32-13 in the third, including a 20-0 run to give themselves a big lead, one that they kept the rest of the game. Lou Williams was a big contributor to that 20-0 run, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring eleven points. Al Horford had another double-double on the night scoring nineteen points and leading the Hawks with fourteen rebounds.
Josh Smith led the Hawks in scoring with 24 points. Williams scored eighteen of his 21 total points in the second half and Jeff Teague also scored in double figures, he had thirteen. Kyle Korver missed the game with his back still hurting, the Hawks hope to have him back on Monday. DeShawn Stevenson also didn't play, he never plays on the second night of back-to-backs.
The Hawks are now 12-5 on the year after the big win. They have another tough opponent on Monday, as they will travel to Miami to play the defending champion Heat. The Heat won on Saturday night too, and are a half game up on the Hawks in the Southeast Division. The game will be at 7:30 p.m.
