Today's Falcons' player recap will cover running back Antone Smith.
Smith is a three-year veteran out of Florida State. He has spent his entire career with the Falcons so far, but has only carried the ball once in those three years for a negative three yards. The biggest reason the Falcons keep Smith around is for special teams. He has been near or at the top of the teams' leaders for special teams tackles every year.
Smith could be back next year and if he is, it will most likely be as a special teams player again. There are just too many running backs in front of him on the depth chart for Smith to really get a shot on offense. If he doesn't return to the Falcons, he will get a job somewhere else in the NFL on special teams.
