Turner is a nine-year veteran out of Northern Illinois. Ever since the Falcons acquired Turner five years ago, he has been one of the NFL's best running backs. 2012 was different for Turner though, it was obvious the workload of the past four seasons had gotten to him as he had his worst season yet in a Falcons' uniform. He ran the ball 222 times for 800 yards and ten touchdowns. Compared to his first season with the Falcons, when he rushed the ball 376 times for 1,699 yards and seventeen touchdowns, it shows his production is way down. He also caught nineteen passes for 128 yards and a touchdown, but he doesn't have the best hands as a running back and dropped eleven other passes thrown his way.
Turner should still be around next season for Atlanta, but look for his production and playing time to continue to decrease as Jacquizz Rodgers is getting much better. He and Rodgers will most likely split the carries next season. Unfortunately, he just doesn't have the intensity he used to have and most of the time he runs the ball, he goes straight up the middle for a one-yard gain, if he is even that lucky.
Michael Turner carries the ball against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. Turner had his worst season ever in a Falcons' uniform in 2012.
