Hawks Barely Lose to Timberwolves

The Atlanta Hawks rallied late against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but it wasn't enough as Minnesota won 108-103. The Wolves had a sixteen point lead at the half as the Hawks had trouble again having a bad first quarter.
The Timberwolves won this game after learning that their top player, Kevin Love, will miss eight to ten weeks due to a broken hand. The win was also the first time the Timberwolves have beaten the Hawks since 2006, an eleven game span. Nikola Pekovic had a fantastic game, leading the Wolves with 25 points and eighteen rebounds. Andrei Kirilenko was next in scoring for the Wolves with 21 points, followed by Derrick Williams with seventeen, Alexey Shved with fifteen and Luke Ridnour with ten. The Wolves are now 16-15 on the season.
The Hawks are now on a three-game losing streak. They have lost to the Pistons and Celtics, who both had losing records, and now the Timberwolves, who were a .500 team before their victory. Both Josh Smith and Al Horford had double-doubles and it was the first time the Hawks have lost this season when both players accomplish the feat. Smith had 21 points and thirteen rebounds while Horford scored nineteen points and pulled down eleven rebounds.
Lou Williams tied Smith for the team-lead in scoring with 21. Kyle Korver added fifteen points and John Jenkins was the other Hawk that scored in double figures with ten points off the bench. Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow both missed another game, it is still no known when they will return.
The Hawks are now 20-13 on the year. They will play again tomorrow in Cleveland against the Cavaliers. Cleveland is 8-28 on the year so far and they and the Hawks have already met twice this season with each team winning once. The Cavaliers have lost two games in a row. The game will be at 7 p.m.

Kyle Korver was one of five Hawks to score in double figures. He had fifteen points in the Hawks' loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
