The Hornets outscored the Hawks in all three of the other quarters besides the third. They shot almost 44 percent from the field as a team and out-rebounded the Hawks 47 to 39, but these factors just weren't enough to give the Hornets their second win in a row. Ryan Anderson led the team in scoring off the bench with 23 points. Greivis Vasquez had a double-double, scoring seventeen points and dishing out ten assists. Eric Gordon also had eleven points off the bench and Robin Lopez added ten. Anthony Davis led the Hornets in rebounds with thirteen. The Hornets are now 7-24 on the season.
The Hawks needed this victory after a lackluster performance against the Houston Rockets yesterday. The Hawks had four players score in double figures and were led by Josh Smith. Smith had a double-double while leading the Hawks with 23 points and thirteen rebounds. Smith was a big contributor to the third quarter scoring ten points, he hit eleven of his 20 shots during the game.
Al Horford was the next top scorer with 20 points, Kyle Korver added fourteen and Zaza Pachulia had a double-double off the bench with twelve points and ten rebounds. Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow didn't play again, as it was mentioned before that they will most likely be out until Saturday. Ivan Johnson and DeShawn Stevenson also didn't play, as coach Larry Drew used only three of his bench players.
The Hawks are now 20-10 on the season. They will travel on Friday to play the Detroit Pistons at 7:30 p.m. The Pistons have won three games in a row and are now 12-22 on the season.
