Pistons Hold on to Beat Hawks

The Detroit Pistons almost lost a game in the fourth quarter, but held on to beat the Hawks 85-84. The Pistons blew a nineteen point lead only to hold on by one.
The Pistons started the game fast, holding a fifteen point lead going in the half. They have won six of their last seven games, the only loss coming in double overtime to the Hawks on December 26th. Austin Daye led the Pistons with 20 points off the bench, he hit nine of his eleven shots. Greg Monroe scored eighteen points while Rodney Stuckey added ten off the bench. Jason Maxiell had a double-double scoring ten points and leading Detroit with ten rebounds. The Pistons are now 13-22 on the year and have a four-game winning streak.
The Hawks quickly erased Detroit's double-digit lead in the fourth quarter when they went on a 16-0 run and were behind 83-82 with over three minutes left to play. The Hawks thought they tied the game though when it appeared Al Horford hit a three-pointer, which would have been his first in 22 months. The play was reviewed and it was determined Horford's toe was on the line, which meant the shot was only for two points. That ended up being the difference in the game.
Josh Smith led the Hawks with 20 points in the loss. Horford scored eighteen points and led the Hawks with fifteen rebounds. Lou Williams added seventeen points and Kyle Korver scored ten. The Hawks were without Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow again, they might play in tomorrow night's game. They also didn't have Johan Petro, who was out with the flu, and DeShawn Stevenson who sat out tonight and will play tomorrow to save himself from fatigue in back-to-back games.
The Hawks are now 20-11. They will return home tomorrow night to face one of their biggest rivals, the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are 15-17 on the year and they won their last game they played against the Indiana Pacers. The game will be at 7 p.m.

Al Horford takes a shot against the Detroit Pistons. He hit what appeared to be a game-tying three-pointer that was later ruled a two-point shot, that was the difference in the game.
