The Grizzlies hung close with the Hawks in the first half, but in the second half, things changed. Memphis missed their first thirteen shots in the third quarter and eventually fell behind by 23 points and never recovered. They can thank their reserves for a strong fourth quarter and making the game look closer than what it was. Zach Randolph led the team with 20 points. He was followed by Mike Conley with seventeen, Jerryd Bayless with fifteen and Marc Gasol with fourteen. Gasol also had ten rebounds to lead the Grizzlies, who have now lost two games in a row and are 30-18 on the year.
The Hawks had a great start in the first half, shooting a season-high 62 percent from the field as a team. They finished the night shooting 51 percent from the field. Teague led the way with 22 points and thirteen assists. He was one of three Hawks who recorded double-doubles.
Smith finished the night with nineteen points and eleven rebounds. Al Horford had seventeen points and also had eleven rebounds to tie Smith for the team lead in that category. Kyle Korver added twelve points in the victory. The Hawks were without Zaza Pachulia for the fourth straight game. Also, DeShawn Stevenson, Anthony Morrow and Jannero Pargo did not play.
The Hawks are now 27-21 on the season. They will welcome the New Orleans Hornets to town on Friday night for a 7:30 p.m. game. The Hornets are 16-33 so far on the year.
