Depleted Hawks Lose to Nuggets

A depleted Atlanta Hawks team lost to the Denver Nuggets on Monday night, 104-88. The Hawks were without three main players and lost two more during the game for a period of time.
The Nuggets had a tough time putting the Hawks away at first. By the fourth quarter though, the game was all but over. Corey Brewer came off the bench to lead the Nuggets with 22 points. Ty Lawson added eighteen points, Wilson Chandler had thirteen off the bench, Andre Iguodala had twelve and Kenneth Faried had ten. Faried also pulled down thirteen rebounds to lead Denver. With the win, the Nuggets tied the Miami Heat for the best record at home in the NBA. They have now won five straight games and are 39-22 on the season.
The Hawks were missing Kyle Korver and Zaza Pachulia due to injuries and DeShawn Stevenson because he always sits out the second game of back-to-backs. Jeff Teague and Ivan Johnson were both injured during the game, but luckily they were able to return. There was some history made tonight though by Josh Smith. Smith had fifteen points and with that he became the 24th player in league history to collect 10,000 points, 5,000 rebounds, 2,000 assists and 1,000 blocks.
Al Horford led the Hawks in points again with eighteen on the night. Jeff Teague and Smith were next with fifteen apiece, followed by John Jenkins who had twelve and Devin Harris with eleven. Jeremy Tyler got his first game action since being acquired by Atlanta at the trade deadline. He didn't score but he did grab three rebounds in a little over five minutes of playing time.
The Hawks have now lost three in a row and are 33-26 on the year. The Hawks will travel home and play the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Sixers are 23-35 on the year and will play the Boston Celtics tomorrow night before traveling to Atlanta for Wednesday's game.

With his fifteen points tonight, Josh Smith became the 24th player in NBA history to collect 10,000 points, 5,000 rebounds, 2,000 assists and 1,000 blocks. Unfortunately it wasn't a good night for the Hawks, as they lost 104-88 to the Denver Nuggets.
