Braves Beat Yankees

The Atlanta Braves are used to their offense scoring runs so far in spring training. Tuesday night was a different story though, as their pitchers held the New York Yankees in check and the Braves won 2-0.
On offense, the Braves collected six hits to score their two runs. Jordan Schafer led the game off with a double, stole a base and then scored on Justin Upton's RBI ground out. Later in the seventh, Tyler Pastornicky got a single, stole a base, moved to third on an error and then came home when Yankees' pitcher Michael Montgomery balked and that completed the scoring for Atlanta. Freddie Freeman led the Braves with two hits, B.J. Upton and Juan Francisco each added a hit of their own. The Braves did receive a scare when Dan Uggla got hit in the back of the head with a pitch. Luckily he was fine, but Fredi Gonzalez did have him removed from the game as a precaution.
Paul Maholm was much better in his third start than in his second. He pitched three and two thirds innings, gave up three hits and four walks, but struck out two and gave up no runs while earning the victory. He is 1-1 for the spring. Cristhian Martinez, Dusty Hughes and prospect Cory Rasmus all had scoreless outings. Top prospect J.R. Graham ended up pitching two scoreless innings while picking up his second save of the spring.
The Braves are now 6-6 on the spring. They have an off day tomorrow before taking the field again on Thursday to play the Detroit Tigers at 6:05 p.m. Julio Teheran is scheduled to make his third start of the spring.
