The Braves had eleven hits while scoring their six runs in the win. B.J. Upton and Dan Uggla both hit their first home runs of the spring. Tyler Pastornicky also hit a home run in the game, it was his second of the spring. Upton's was a two-run shot, while Uggla and Pastornicky both hit solo homers. B.J.'s brother Justin had an RBI double in the game and shortstop Ramiro Pena drove in the Braves other run, also with a double. Juan Francisco led the Braves with two hits, both doubles, and he also scored a run. Joey Terdoslavich had another hit, but his average did fall from .643 to .625. Freddie Freeman, Jordan Schafer and Ernesto Mejia all added singles for the Braves.
Mike Minor made his second start and it was much better than his first. He pitched three scoreless innings, striking out three and only giving up a hit and a walk. He is now 1-0 in spring play. Cory Gearrin struck out two batters in his scoreless inning of relief. Jonny Venters and Anthony Varvaro also completed scoreless innings.
The Braves are now 4-6 on the spring. They will play again tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. against the New York Mets. Tim Hudson will be making his third start of the spring.
B.J. Upton hits his first home run of the spring, and in a Braves' uniform, as Atlanta beat the Detroit Tigers 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
