The Braves tallied eleven hits while scoring their five runs. Joey Terdoslavich had a fantastic day going four for four at the plate and raising his spring average to .643. All four hits were singles, he also drove in a run and scored a run. Freddie Freeman and Todd Cunningham both had two hits for the Braves, Freeman hit his first home run of the spring too, a solo shot in the third inning. Evan Gattis had an RBI single to complete the scoring for the Braves. Jordan Parraz and Gerald Laird had the other two hits for Atlanta.
For the pitching, Kris Medlen got the start and had an effective day on the mound pitching three innings and struck out two while giving up a solo home run. Sean Gilmartin, who is vying for the fifth spot in the starting rotation, had a rough outing compared to his first one. He also pitched three innings but gave up four runs on six hits, he did have three strikeouts though. He suffered the loss, he is 0-1 on the spring. Craig Kimbrel also had another rough outing. He pitched an inning and gave up a run on two walks and a hit, his third straight outing giving up a run. After struggling, he settled down to strike out the final two batters he faced on seven pitches. Yohan Flande pitched a perfect eighth inning, a major difference from his previous three appearances.
The Braves are now 3-6 on the spring. They will play again tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. against the Detroit Tigers for the third time so far this spring. Mike Minor will make his second start of the spring for the Braves.
Freddie Freeman hit his first home run of the spring for the Braves on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as they lost 6-5.
