Braves Win in Spring Finale

The Atlanta Braves faced off against the Houston Astros in their spring finale in Florida on Thursday afternoon. They got great pitching and won 2-0, they can now make final preparations for Opening Day next week.
The Braves' offense got five hits while scoring their two runs. Andrelton Simmons hit a solo home run, it was his third of the spring. Justin Upton also got a hit and scored a run due to an error. Freddie Freeman, Evan Gattis and Ramiro Pena were the other three Braves to record hits.
Paul Maholm started the game and pitched four scoreless innings while striking out two batters. He increased his scoreless innings streak to 24 and two-thirds innings to end his spring. He also got the win, he went 4-1 on the spring and had an ERA of 1.53. Craig Kimbrel, Jordan Walden and Anthony Varvaro all pitched a scoreless inning each. Walden's inning was the most impressive as he struck out two of the three batters he faced. Adam Russell pitched the ninth inning and picked up his first save of the spring.
The Braves finished their Florida portion of spring training with a 20-15 record. They have an off day tomorrow and then will travel to Mississippi to face the Braves' Minor League All-Star squad. Mike Minor will make the start against the Braves' young up and comers.

Paul Maholm picked up the victory on Thursday in the Braves' 2-0 win over the Astros. Maholm went 4-1 on the spring with a 1.53 ERA.
