Cardinals Best Braves

After playing each other two days ago, the St. Louis Cardinals returned the favor on Thursday, beating the Braves, 5-4. The Braves pounded the Cardinals 12-3 on Tuesday.
The Braves' offense used eleven hits to plate their four runs. Jordan Parraz had a great day for the Braves, going four for four, with two doubles and scoring two runs. Blake DeWitt drove in two of Atlanta's runs with a hit. Jordan Schafer also drove in a run and scored a run of his own. Mike Minor laid down a bunt to drive in a run too. The Braves also got hits from Dan Uggla, Freddie Freeman, Chris Johnson, Evan Gattis and Juan Francisco, but they couldn't muster anything else out of all those base runners.
For the pitching, Minor started out strong, retiring twelve of the first fourteen batters he faced. Then he got into trouble in the fifth inning and the Cardinals batted around on him. He ended the day giving up four runs on six hits and four walks in five innings. Anthony Varvaro pitched a perfect sixth inning. Prospect Alex Wood pitched the final two innings, giving up a run on three hits. He suffered the loss and is now 0-1 on the spring.
The Braves are now 11-10 on the spring. They will play the New York Mets tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. Tim Hudson is scheduled to start for Atlanta. The Braves also announced that prospect David Hale had been cut from the spring roster and optioned to the minor leagues.
