Falcons Sign Steven Jackson

The Atlanta Falcons found a replacement for Michael Turner on Thursday. They announced they signed running back Steven Jackson, formerly of the St. Louis Rams, to a three-year contract.
Jackson will be playing his tenth NFL season in 2013 with Atlanta. He was drafted by the Rams out of Oregon State back in 2004. He is a very dependable running back, and was considered to be the best running back available in this years free agent class. He rushed for 1,042 yards in 2012, his eighth straight season of rushing for more than 1,000 yards. Unlike Turner, Jackson is good with his hands, he even caught 90 passes back in 2006 for over 800 receiving yards. He is the active leader in career rushing yards in the NFL today with 10,135 yards.
Also as expected, longtime center Todd McClure announced his retirement from the NFL. He played sixteen years with the Falcons and started in 198 games for them in his career. That also includes the franchise record he set for most consecutive starts of 144 from 2002-2010.
