Hawks Burn Suns

The Atlanta Hawks avenged a loss they suffered to the Phoenix Suns earlier in the year back in Phoenix. Playing in front of the home crowd on Friday night, Atlanta easily handled the Suns, 107-94.
The Suns tried to keep it close, but this one was over by halftime. The Suns are miserable this season playing away from Phoenix. They are 7-27 on the road. Goran Dragic led the team with 21 points. Jermaine O'Neal was next with eighteen points, followed by Markieff Morris who had fifteen points and also led the Suns with eleven rebounds. Michael Beasley also came off the bench to score ten points for Phoenix. The Suns have lost three straight games and are now 22-44 on the year.
The Hawks had an eleven point lead by the half, and just matched the Suns' play for the final two quarters to come away with the victory. They shot 48 percent from the field as a team and also 52 percent from beyond the three-point line. They also had most of their players back, including Josh Smith and Jeff Teague, who actually came off the bench during the game.
Smith led the Hawks with seventeen points in the win. He was followed by Kyle Korver and Al Horford who both had sixteen, Devin Harris was next with fifteen and DeShawn Stevenson added twelve points. Smith and Horford both posted double-doubles and tied for the team lead with eleven rebounds. Zaza Pachulia missed the game again with his injury. It was also announced that guard Shelvin Mack had been signed to his second ten-day contract.
The Hawks have now won two games in a row and are 36-29 on the year. They will travel to Brooklyn to take on the Nets on Sunday night at 8 p.m. The Nets are 38-27 on the season.

Josh Smith takes a shot during Friday night's 107-94 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Smith returned after missing the last game with a knee injury to lead the Hawks with seventeen points.
