At first the game was really close and tight. The Nets took a lead into the final quarter before falling apart and the Hawks took them down. Former Hawk Joe Johnson hit seven of his sixteen shots as he scored eighteen points. Deron Williams also scored eighteen points as both players lead the team for the game. Brook Lopez added seventeen points for the Nets, while Reggie Evans had a monster game, scoring fourteen points and pulling down a team-high 22 rebounds. The Nets are now 38-28 and only a game up on the Hawks for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Hawks fell behind in the first quarter, took a lead into halftime and then fell behind by two heading into the fourth quarter. That is when they came alive and completely dominated the Nets and outscored them 34-20 in the final quarter. They ended up shooting 52 percent from the field as a team.
Al Horford led the Hawks with 22 points and he also led the team with eleven rebounds. Josh Smith had 21 points, Dahntay Jones had his best game as a Hawk scoring thirteen points off the bench, Kyle Korver also added twelve points. Jeff Teague came off the bench again and had eleven points and he also led the Hawks with fifteen assists. Zaza Pachulia missed yet another game with his injury.
The Hawks have now won three in a row and are 37-29 on the year. They will return home to play the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Dallas is 31-35 on the year and fighting to get back into the Western Conference playoff picture.
Dahntay Jones throws down a dunk in the Hawks' 105-93 victory on Sunday night over the Brooklyn Nets. Jones had his best game as a Hawk yet with thirteen points off the bench.
