Hawks Lose Close One to Lakers

The Atlanta Hawks fought long and hard Sunday night against the Los Angeles Lakers. They came up just short though, losing 99-98 in the final seconds.
Kobe Bryant was the big reason why the Lakers won. He threw down a big dunk over Josh Smith late in the game and then scored the winning shot with only nine seconds left. With the victory, the Lakers are now at .500 for the first time in two months. Bryant scored 34 points to lead all scorers in the game. Steve Nash had a double-double, he scored fifteen points and dished out ten assists. Metta World Peace added thirteen points, Dwight Howard had eleven points and led the Lakers with fifteen rebounds and Antawn Jamison added ten points off the bench. The Lakers have now won two in a row and are 30-30 for the season.
The Hawks trailed most of the game but hung with the Lakers most of the way through. They started coming back in the third quarter as Los Angeles blew a sixteen point lead. They shot 50 percent from the field as a team, but Bryant was just too much for them to overcome.
Al Horford had another big game, he led the Hawks with 24 points. Josh Smith added nineteen points, while Kyle Korver and Devin Harris both came off the bench to chip in with sixteen apiece. No player recorded a double-double for Atlanta. John Jenkins didn't play in the game.
The Hawks are now 33-25 on the year and have lost two in a row. They will travel to Denver and play again tomorrow night at 9 p.m. against the Nuggets. The Nuggets are one of the best and hottest teams in the Western Conference right now, as they have won four in a row and are 38-22 on the year.
