The Sixers started off the game with an 8-0 lead, but the Hawks caught fire after that and Philly didn't stand a chance. The starters combined for only 37 points for a team that has slowly been fading out of the playoff picture. It is tough for them too, as they are without Nick Young, Jason Richardson and Andrew Bynum. Former Hawk Damien Wilkins led the Sixers with 21 points off the bench. Dorell Wright also came off the bench and scored 20 for Philly, followed by Thaddeus Young with sixteen and Jrue Holiday with eleven points. Holiday also dished out twelve assists for the Sixers and Spencer Hawes pulled down eleven rebounds to lead the team. Philadelphia has lost their last three games and are 23-37 overall on the year.
The Hawks went nearly five minutes without scoring to begin the game. Josh Smith finally made a little flip shot in the lane and that started a hot streak. The Hawks made 25 of their 36 shots for the rest of the half to easily cruise past the Sixers. Tolliver had his best game so far as a Hawk and hit seven of his ten shots, including five from downtown, to score a season-high 21 points off the bench. The Sixers kept leaving him open and he kept making them pay.
Jeff Teague led the Hawks overall with 27 points and he also dished out eleven assists. He was followed by Tolliver and Al Horford, who also scored 21 points and led the Hawks with twelve rebounds. Smith chipped in with thirteen points for Atlanta. Shelvin Mack appeared in his first game with the Hawks, he only played a minute and missed the only shot he attempted. Zaza Pachulia missed the game with his lingering injury.
The Hawks are now 34-26 on the year. They will travel to Boston on Friday and take on the rival Celtics at 8 p.m. Boston has won four games in a row and has an overall record of 33-27 on the year.
Anthony Tolliver shoots a 3-pointer against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. He scored 21 points off the bench in the Hawks 107-96 victory.
