The Celtics outscored the Hawks 32-30 in the first quarter and never looked back. They also held a ten point lead at halftime. They also shot an outstanding 54 percent from the field as a team. Pierce had twenty points, ten rebounds and ten assists for the triple-double. Jeff Green led the Celtics though with 27 points, followed by Jason Terry with 24 and Brandon Bass with thirteen. Shavlik Randolph came off the bench and led Boston with thirteen rebounds. The Celtics have now won two games in a row and are 38-34 on the year.
The Hawks tried to keep it close and they did most of the game, but it just wasn't enough. They had a different looking starting lineup, as Josh Smith and Jeff Teague were the only normal starters that started. Al Horford, who has been leading the team lately, missed the game with a stomach illness. Also, the bench players had extended minutes.
Mike Scott led the Hawks with nineteen points off the bench. He was followed by Smith who had eighteen, Teague was next with seventeen, Anthony Tolliver had fourteen and Shelvin Mack had twelve. Rookie John Jenkins left the game in the first half and didn't return after suffering an injury. Devin Harris missed the game with his foot injury, its the third game in a row that he hasn't played. Zaza Pachulia also remained out.
The Hawks are now 40-33 on the year. They return home to play the Orlando Magic tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The Magic are having one of their worst seasons in recent years, they currently have a record of 19-54.
