The Braves' offense totaled eight hits while scoring their two runs. Chris Johnson had the biggest hit, a solo home run in the fourth inning. It was his third home run of the spring, he also had three hits in the game to boost his chances at winning the third base job. Freddie Freeman had an RBI single in the sixth inning, it proved to be the winning run. Jordan Schafer, Jordan Parraz, Ramiro Pena and Juan Francisco all had a hit in the victory.
Teheran has been sharp this spring and had probably his best outing on Sunday. He served up a home run to Jordany Valdespin to lead off the game but then gave up only two other hits over six innings. He also struck out seven Mets' batters as he improved his spring record to 2-1. Left-handed relievers Luis Avilan and Dusty Hughes both pitched scoreless innings in relief for the Braves. Anthony Varvaro pitched the ninth inning and earned his second save of the spring.
The Braves are now 13-11 on the spring. They will take the field again tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. and play the Philadelphia Phillies. Kris Medlen will be making the start for Atlanta.
