The Braves brought out the big bats on Tuesday night and hit five home runs in their 6-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
The Braves had nine hits while scoring their six runs. Juan Francisco had the big night, he hit two solo home runs, it was the first multi-homer game of his career. He now has three home runs on the season. Jason Heyward, Justin Upton and Dan Uggla all homered in the eighth inning. For Heyward it was his second of the year, Upton it was his eighth of the year and Uggla it was his third of the year. He pitched seven innings, struck out five batters and gave up six hits and two runs, but only one of the runs was earned which was a solo home run to the Royals' Chris Getz. Eric O'Flaherty pitched the eighth inning and was perfect, he also got the victory and is now 3-0 on the year. Luis Avilan started to pitch the ninth but then suffered an injury and had to leave the game, his status is unknown at this time. He gave up a run and retired only one batter. Craig Kimbrel came into the game and got the final two outs but did not get the save.
The Braves are now 12-1 on the year and will finish up their two-game series with the Royals tomorrow at 12:10 p.m. Mike Minor (2-0) will take the mound for the Braves and will face-off against the Royals' Wade Davis (1-0).
