Braves Lose Again to Pirates

For the first time this season the Atlanta Braves have lost two games in a row. It also marked the first time they have lost when they scored in a game.
The Braves' offense gathered only four hits while scoring their run and that run scored on a bases loaded walk. The Braves couldn't push across anymore runs in that rally though and mustered their best opportunity at scoring. Chris Johnson led Atlanta with two hits as he had a double and a single. Both the Upton brothers also had a hit apiece.
Paul Maholm made his fourth start of the year and did good except for two pitches. He gave up a run scoring double to Andrew McCutchen and a two-run homer to Gaby Sanchez. That also ended his scoreless innings streak at 25 innings. Maholm pitched six innings and struck out five, while giving up three runs on four hits. He suffered the loss and is now 3-1 on the season. Cory Gearrin pitched in the seventh inning and Jordan Walden pitched in the eighth, they both struck out a batter and didn't allow any runs.
The Braves are now 13-4 on the year and will play the final game of their four-game series with the Pirates tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. Kris Medlen (1-1) will get the ball for the Braves against Jonathon Sanchez (0-2) of the Pirates.

Paul Maholm pitched six good innings but made two bad pitches and the Braves' offense struggled for the second game in a row as the Pirates won, 3-1.
