Hawks Beat Cavaliers

The Atlanta Hawks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, 102-94. Atlanta led from start to finish in the victory.
Cleveland shot 50 percent from the field but they were missing Kyrie Irving and C.J. Miles on a night when they could have used the two players. Marreese Speights led the Cavs with 23 points off the bench. Shaun Livingston started in place of Irving and was next in scoring with fourteen points, followed by Tyler Zeller with twelve, Alonzo Gee with eleven and Wayne Ellington with ten. Cleveland is in the midst of a huge slump as they have lost nine games in a row and now sit with a record of 22-51 on the year.
It was nice for the Hawks to beat Cleveland and at least tie the season series at two games a piece between the two teams. The Hawks outscored Cleveland 25-19 in the first quarter and also outscored them in the second and third quarters even though they shot 45 percent from the field, which was less than the Cavs.
Devin Harris had a great night and led the Hawks with 25 points. Jeff Teague was next with nineteen points while Josh Smith recovered after a horrible first-half to score eighteen points and lead the Hawks with fourteen rebounds. Al Horford returned after missing two games with a stomach illness and had sixteen points for Atlanta before fouling out in the fourth quarter. John Jenkins missed the game with his concussion, while Johan Petro, Dahntay Jones and Mike Scott didn't play.
The Hawks have won two games in a row and are now 42-33 on the year and moving closer to securing home-court advantage for the playoffs. Their next game will be on Wednesday against the New York Knicks at 7 p.m. The Knicks are 46-26 on the year and have won eight straight games.
