Hawks Beat Magic Again

The Atlanta Hawks beat the Orlando Magic 97-88 on Saturday night. It was the tenth straight time the Hawks have beaten Orlando.
Orlando had a roster of misfits on the court as they were playing without Glen Davis, Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington. After outscoring the Hawks 27-23 in the first quarter, it was all downhill the rest of the way as the Magic only shot 39 percent from the field. Beno Udrih led the Magic with 20 points. Maurice Harkless and Nikola Vucevic each added seventeen points, Vucevic also had fifteen rebounds to lead Orlando. Tobias Harris added eleven points and ten rebounds too. The Magic have now lost two straight and at 19-55 on the season.
The Hawks used their 27th different starting lineup for the season with all the varies injuries they have suffered and endured. After being outscored in the first quarter, the Hawks outscored the Magic 44-33 over the next two quarters to pull away. They shot only 43 percent from the field as a team though.
Ivan Johnson had a season-high 21 points and led the Hawks with ten rebounds in the victory. Josh Smith also added 21 points and Devin Harris returned from his foot injury to score seventeen points. Al Horford missed his second game in a row with his stomach illness, John Jenkins was out with a concussion and DeShawn Stevenson didn't play due to bad knees. Also, it was announced that Zaza Pachulia would have season-ending surgery for his Achilles injury.
The Hawks are now 41-33 on the year. Their next game will be against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The Cavs are 22-50 on the season and have lost eight straight games, but they have beaten the Hawks two out of the three times they have met this year.
