Hawks Cruise Past Sixers

This game was much different than the last match up between the Atlanta Hawks and the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers crushed the Hawks last week, but the Hawks used a little payback on Wednesday night and beat Philly, 124-101.
The Sixers were outscored in every quarter even though they were leading to begin the game. They shot 42 percent from the field as a team and scored over 100 points, but the Hawks were just too hot for them to handle. Thaddeus Young led Philly with 28 points. Nick Young was next in scoring with nineteen points, followed by Dorell Wright with fifteen and Jrue Holiday with twelve. The Sixers, who were recently eliminated from playoff contention, have lost three in a row and are 31-47 on the year.
The Hawks were missing almost every shot they took at the beginning of the game, but then turned around and produced one of their best games of the year. Their best quarter was the third, when they outscored the 76ers 34-22 on their way to the 23-point victory. They also shot 53 percent from the field, eleven percent better than the Sixers.
Josh Smith led the Hawks with 28 points, he also added twelve rebounds to lead the team. John Jenkins was next in scoring as he had 21 points off the bench, Mike Scott also came off the bench and added seventeen points, Al Horford was next with sixteen and Jeff Teague had thirteen and dished out eleven assists to lead the Hawks. Johan Petro missed the game due to personal reasons.
The Hawks snapped their three-game losing streak and are now 43-36 on the year. They only have three more games for the regular season and the next one will be on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are 37-41 on the year but have clinched the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
