The Braves' offense used eight hits to score their three runs. The biggest hit was Evan Gattis' two-run home run in the top of the third inning, it was his fourth of the year. His home run came right after Zimmerman's error, which would have gotten Washington out of the inning. Ramiro Pena and Hudson led the Braves with two hits apiece. Dan Uggla, B.J. Upton and Chris Johnson each added a hit for the Braves and Jason Heyward drove in a run on a ground out.
The pitching was superb for the Braves. Hudson out-dueled Stephen Strasburg and pitched seven strong innings while striking out three. His only mistake came when he gave up a solo homer to the Nationals' Danny Espinosa, it was one of the four hits he allowed. He also picked up the victory and is now 2-0 on the year. Eric O'Flaherty pitched a perfect eighth inning and Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season.
The Braves are now 10-1 on the year and will wrap up their three-game series against the Nationals tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. Paul Maholm (2-0) will start for the Braves against Gio Gonzalez (1-0) of the Nationals.

Tim Hudson pitched seven effective innings and picked up his second victory of the year as the Braves beat the Washington Nationals 3-1 on Saturday.
