Rockies Beat Braves in Extras

The Atlanta Braves were in the perfect position to get Tim Hudson his 200th career victory. Instead a few miscues and a blown save ended up giving the Rockies a victory in the bottom of the twelfth inning, 6-5.
The Braves' offense had ten hits in the loss, they didn't hit a home run, which makes them 0-6 now when they don't hit one. Juan Francisco had two hits for the Braves and drove in a run, Justin Upton and Dan Uggla also had two hits for the Braves. Freddie Freeman, Jordan Schafer and Hudson each added a hit and drove in a run for Atlanta, Evan Gattis also had a hit for the Braves. Ramiro Pena failed to get down a bunt which would have scored Schafer in the top of the ninth inning, that ended up haunting the Braves in the end.
Hudson struggled in a few innings, but overall had a decent day and pitched well enough to put himself in position to win. He gave up three runs on six hits while pitching six innings and struck out three. Luis Avilan pitched a perfect seventh and Eric O'Flaherty pitched out of a jam in the eighth to get to Craig Kimbrel in the ninth. Kimbrel struggled and ended up giving up two runs on three hits and blowing Hudson's shot at win number 200 for the day. With two outs a ball was hit towards Justin Upton in left field, it appeared he could have caught it but he missed it and two runs scored to tie the game. Cory Gearrin and Jordan Walden each pitched a scoreless inning then before Luis Ayala came in and lost the game in the twelfth inning. Ayala is now 0-1 on the year.
The Braves are now 15-6 on the year and will have an off day on Thursday before going to Detroit to start a three-game series with the Tigers. Paul Maholm (3-1) will get the ball in the first game against Anibal Sanchez (2-1) of the Tigers.
