The Braves had four hits in the game. Freddie Freeman led Atlanta with two hits, including a triple. Andrelton Simmons also had a hit and Jordan Schafer had a pinch hit single in the eighth inning. The Braves also struck out eleven times in the game, Justin Upton whiffed the most with three strikeouts.
Kris Medlen started and pitched only two innings after getting hit with a batted ball in the leg. He gave up all three runs on four hits and suffered the loss, he is now 1-6 on the year. David Carpenter pitched the next three innings and gave up only a hit but did walk four batters. Anthony Varvaro pitched the next two innings and struck out two men. Jordan Walden returned from the disabled list and pitched an inning and struck out two batters. Cory Gearrin pitched around a hit and two walks in the ninth inning.
The Braves are now 31-21 on the year. They will conclude their four-game series with Toronto tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. The Braves most consistent starter Mike Minor (6-2) will make the start against the reigning National League Cy Young award winner, R.A. Dickey (4-6).
