Pachulia is a nine-year center who didn't attend college. He has played with the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks and the Hawks in his career. His better seasons have come with Atlanta, in fact, when he first arrived he was a starter and playing a lot of minutes and scoring a lot of points. Over the past seven years though, Pachulia has been a main part of the Hawks' bench, coming in to provide toughness more than anything.
Pachulia appeared in 52 games this past season for the Hawks before suffering a Achilles injury and missing the rest of the year. Pachulia averaged 5.9 points a game and 6.5 rebounds this past year, both numbers were down from the previous season. He finished with totals of 306 points and 336 rebounds. His best game of the year came in a Hawks' victory on November 24th against the Los Angeles Clippers at Philips Arena. Pachulia scored nineteen points and pulled down twelve rebounds in the victory.
Pachulia is a free agent this off season. He most likely would love to return to the Hawks, but it will remain to be seen if Atlanta will re-sign him or not. He could definitely provide a veteran presence as a big man off the bench once again, but his health could prove to be a factor in the end.
Zaza Pachulia has been an emotional leader for the Hawks every since he almost got into this fight with Kevin Garnett of the Celtics in the 2008 NBA playoffs.
