Nationals Beat Braves

The Washington Nationals got great pitching from Jordan Zimmermann and beat the Braves for the first time this year, 2-0.
The Braves' offense only got two hits in the game. Justin Upton and Paul Maholm each recorded a hit in the loss. The offense also struck out nine times in the game, including two each by Dan Uggla, B.J. Upton and Juan Francisco.
Maholm made a terrific start for the Braves. He pitched eight innings and only gave up three hits, but one hit proved to be costly in the end. Washington's Ian Desmond hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and that ended up being the difference in the game. Maholm is now 3-3 after starting the year 3-0. Luis Avilan pitched a perfect ninth inning for Atlanta.
The Braves are now 17-10 on the year and they will finish up their four-game series with the Nationals on Thursday night at 7:10 p.m. Kris Medlen (1-3) will make the start against the Nationals' Dan Haren (2-3).

Paul Maholm pitched eight effective innings for the Braves but it wasn't enough as the Nationals beat Atlanta for the first time this year.
