Atlanta had seven hits in the victory. Freddie Freeman had a great night as he had three hits, including an RBI single in the first inning. Chris Johnson also added two hits, B.J. Upton knocked in a run with an RBI double in the third inning and Jordan Schafer laid down a suicide squeeze to drive in the third run in the sixth inning. Ramiro Pena also had a hit and scored on Schafer's squeeze.
Julio Teheran pitched great in the six innings he completed. He kept the Giants scoreless as he gave up seven hits and struck out eight as he improved his record to 5-3 on the year. Luis Avilan pitched a perfect seventh inning and Jordan Walden pitched a perfect eighth inning and they both struck out a batter. Craig Kimbrel struck out two in the ninth inning as he picked up his nineteenth save of the season.
The Braves are now 41-28 on the year. They will begin a five-game series with the New York Mets tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. One of the five games will be a make-up game from a rain out earlier in the season. Tim Hudson (4-6) will start the first game of the series against Dillon Gee (5-6) for the Mets.
Julio Teheran pitched six shutout innings Sunday night as he picked up his fifth victory of the year in the Braves' 3-0 win over the San Francisco Giants.
