The offense had seven hits in the game but never could seem to rally and get anything together to score. Jason Heyward had two hits again for the fourth straight game to lead the Braves. Freddie Freeman, Brian McCann, Dan Uggla, Ramiro Pena and Jordan Schafer each had a hit in the loss. The Braves also struck out ten times as a team in the game, Justin Upton had the most with three.
Tim Hudson pitched a great game for Atlanta but didn't get any offensive support to back him up. He went seven innings for the Braves and gave up a run on four hits. He also struck out five batters and suffered the loss, he falls to 4-5 on the year. Cory Gearrin came in to pitch the eighth but he gave up four runs on three hits, the biggest being Yasiel Puig's grand slam. Puig is batting .438 and has three homers and nine RBI's since getting called up by the Dodgers earlier this week. Alex Wood came in to replace Gearrin and got the final two outs of the inning.
The Braves are now 37-23 on the year. They will continue their four-game series with the Dodgers tomorrow night at 10:05 p.m. Paul Maholm (7-4) will start for Atlanta against Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-2) of the Dodgers.
