The Braves had seven hits in the victory. Andrelton Simmons and Jason Heyward each recorded two hits for Atlanta. Evan Gattis and Gerald Laird went back to back with homers in the sixth inning. It was Gattis' thirteenth home run of the season and it was Laird's first of the year. Chris Johnson added a hit and an RBI, Dan Uggla also recorded an RBI in a force out.
Teheran had a great game and came within four outs of a no-hitter. He ended up pitching eight innings while giving up no runs and only one hit. He also struck out eleven batters in the game as he improved his record to 4-2 on the season. David Carpenter pitched a perfect ninth inning and struck out two batters in the process.
The Braves are now 37-22 on the year and they will begin a seven-game road trip to the West Coast tomorrow night at 10:05 p.m. against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tim Hudson (4-4) will make the start for the Braves against Zack Greinke (2-1) for the Dodgers.
Gerald Laird, who is the main catcher for Julio Teheran, rounds the bases after his first home run of the year. Teheran almost pitched a no-hitter in the Braves' win on Wednesday.
