The Braves had nine hits in the game. Chris Johnson led the Braves with two hits and two RBI's. Justin Upton had two hits and an RBI while his brother B.J. also had two hits. Jason Heyward also had an RBI single to complete the scoring for the Braves. Freddie Freeman and Brian McCann also had a hit apiece in the win.
Alex Wood had his second straight great start and picked up the victory and is 2-2 on the year now. He pitched six innings and gave up a run on two hits while striking out three. Luis Ayala and Scott Downs combined to pitch the seventh and eighth, each pitcher struck out a batter while in the game. Craig Kimbrel then pitched the ninth inning for the third straight night and earned his 34th save of the season.
The Braves are now 67-45 on the year. They will begin a three-game series with the Washington Nationals tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Mike Minor (11-5) will start in the series opener against Stephen Strasburg (5-9) of the Nationals.
Alex Wood pitched six strong innings to earn his second victory in a row in the Braves' 4-1 victory on Sunday night over the Phillies.
