Atlanta's offense struggled at the plate compared to other games of late by getting only five hits in the win. Justin Upton hit his third home run in the last three games, it was a solo shot and his nineteenth of the year. Freddie Freeman had a hit and drove in two runs, B.J. Upton and Joey Terdoslavich each added a hit and Evan Gattis had an RBI. Uggla had the game-winning RBI as he hustled down the line to beat out a double-play in the twelfth to help the Braves continue their win streak. Janish received a lot of credit too for sliding hard into second base and forcing Chase Utley to take longer throwing the ball to first to allow Uggla time to beat the throw.
Brandon Beachy had a much better outing than his first one. He went six and a third innings and gave up four runs, only three earned, on five hits including a homer to John Mayberry, which was the biggest blow while he was on the mound. Luis Ayala came on to get the final two outs of the seventh inning. Jordan Walden pitched a perfect eighth inning. David Carpenter and Scott Downs combined to pitch scoreless ninth and tenth innings. Luis Avilan pitched a scoreless eleventh inning and earned the victory, he is 4-0 on the year. Craig Kimbrel struck out two in the bottom of the twelfth to earn his 33rd save of the season.
The Braves are now 66-45 on the year and they will finish their series with the Phillies tomorrow night at 8:05 p.m. as the two teams will be featured on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. Alex Wood (1-2) will take the mound for Atlanta against the Phillies' Cliff Lee (10-4).

Paul Janish, left, slides hard into second base to help break up a double play to allow the winning run to score in the Braves' 5-4 win on Saturday night.
