Gattis, Braves Beat Nats

The Atlanta Braves pushed their win streak to twelve games on Tuesday night by beating the Washington Nationals 2-1.
The Braves had eight hits in the game. The biggest hit came off the bat of Evan Gattis when he hit a two-run single in the fifth that proved to be all the Braves would need. Justin and B.J. Upton led the Braves with two hits in the game though. Brian McCann, Dan Uggla and Julio Teheran each added a hit apiece. Jason Heyward left the game in the first inning after tweaking a neck muscle during his at-bat. It wasn't know how serious the injury might be or how long Heyward could be out.
Teheran wasn't as dominate in the strike out category as he was in his last time out but he still pitched good enough for the victory to improve his record to 9-5 on the year. He pitched six innings and gave up one run on four hits, the one run came on a Bryce Harper homer. Luis Avilan pitched around a jam in the seventh inning, Jordan Walden pitched a perfect eighth by striking out the side. Craig Kimbrel also struck out the side in the ninth inning to earn his 35th save of the year.
The Braves are now 69-45 on the year and they will finish their series with the Nationals tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Kris Medlen (8-10) will try to earn his third straight victory as Jordan Zimmermann (13-6) takes the mound for Washington.
