Hamels Dominates Braves

Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies dominated the Braves on Monday night winning 5-1 in a game that was delayed nearly two hours because of rain.
The Braves had six hits in the game. Chris Johnson and Jason Heyward led the Braves with two hits, Johnson also drove in the Braves' only run in the ninth. Justin Upton and Brian McCann each added a hit in the loss. Hamels fanned nine Braves in his complete game, including Upton and Dan Uggla twice apiece.
Julio Teheran started the game off well but it was apparent by the sixth inning that he was beginning to struggle. He pitched six innings and gave up four runs on six hits, including a three-run homer to Cody Asche. He also struck out six batters as he suffered the loss and is 9-6 on the year now. Luis Ayala and Scott Downs each pitched scoreless innings in the seventh and eighth. Anthony Varvaro came on to pitch the ninth and he gave up a run on two hits.
The Braves are now 72-47 on the season and they will play the Phillies again tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. Kris Medlen (9-10) will try to continue his three-game win streak as Ethan Martin (1-1) will return to his home-state and pitch for the Phils.
