Johnson, who was 0-4 with three strikeouts on the day, came up in the top of the tenth with two runners on and redeemed himself with a three-run homer to give the Braves the lead and the victory. It was Johnson's tenth home run of the season. Freddie Freeman and Andrelton Simmons led Atlanta with three hits apiece in the contest, Freeman also drove in the Braves' other run with a single in the sixth inning. Gerald Laird and Joey Terdoslavich each added a hit in the ball game. Jason Heyward left the game in the sixth inning after being hit in the face with a 90-mph pitch from Jonathan Niese, it is not yet known how serious the injury is.
Alex Wood started the game for the Braves and pitched really well over six innings. He gave up a run, which was a solo homer to Josh Satin, on six hits and struck out four batters. Jordan Walden pitched the seventh and eighth innings and did really well striking out four batters over those innings. Luis Avilan pitched the ninth inning and got into a bases loaded jam but pitched his way out of it, he also earned the victory and is 5-0 on the year now. Craig Kimbrel pitched the tenth inning and earned his 30th consecutive save, and his 40th overall this season.
