Braves Rally, Fall Short

The Atlanta Braves put together a fantastic rally over the last two innings on Monday night, but they fell short losing 7-6 to San Diego.
The Braves had nine hits in the loss. Jason Heyward had a big night, he hit two solo home runs in the last two innings, he now has five homers on the season. Evan Gattis once again rose to the occasion and hit a three-run pinch hit homer in the ninth inning, his fourteenth of the year. After all of that though, Atlanta fell just short. Justin and B.J. Upton each added two hits, Dan Uggla and Chris Johnson each had a hit and Julio Teheran drove in a run.
Teheran looked like a different pitcher compared to his last outing. He went six innings and gave up five runs on six hits, including homers to the Padres' Logan Forsythe and Will Venable. He also suffered the loss and is now 4-3 on the year. Cory Gearrin pitched the final two innings and gave up two runs on two hits. After being one of the Braves' most dominant bullpen members to begin the year, Gearrin has gone through a series of rough outings.
The Braves are now 39-25 on the year and they will take on the Padres again tomorrow night at 10:05 p.m. Tim Hudson (4-5) will try to even his record as he takes on Andrew Cashner (4-3) for the Padres.

Jason Heyward is congratulated by his teammates after hitting his second home run of the evening in the Braves' 7-6 loss to the Padres.
