Snelling is a six-year veteran out of Virginia. He has spent his whole career with the Falcons and has slowly worked himself into being a valuable part of their offense. His best season was back in 2009 when injuries to other players halfway through the year caused him to be the starter. He ended up carrying the ball 142 times for 613 yards. His numbers haven't been as good since because the Falcons have better backs, but he is a reliable reserve. He only carried the ball eighteen times this year for 63 yards because Jacquizz Rodgers became a bigger part of the running game. But he did have 31 receptions for 203 yards and a touchdown.
Snelling should be around again next season in the Falcons' backfield. He is a great third-back to have and on most other teams he would be the second-back and possibly the starter. If he gets an offer somewhere else with more guaranteed playing time, he could bolt the Falcons for that job, but he seems to like it here and would most likely stay.
Jason Snelling scores a touchdown in the NFC Divisional Playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks. Snelling has been a key situational player for Atlanta for six seasons.
