Bullpen Loses Game for Braves

The offense was helping the Braves recover from an early deficit, but it wasn't enough as the Mets scored upon the bullpen and won 7-4 on Thursday afternoon.
Atlanta managed only five hits in the loss. Freddie Freeman led the Braves with two hits, which included a solo homer in the sixth inning, it was his eleventh of the year. Dan Uggla also hit a homer, a two-run shot in the fourth for his 21st of the season. Reed Johnson added a hit and scored a run and Chris Johnson also added a hit for the Braves.
Alex Wood struggled again in his second Major League start. He pitched only four and a third innings while giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out five, he didn't factor into the decision. Kameron Loe pitched the next inning and two-thirds and he got rocked giving up three runs on four hits. He suffered the loss and is now 0-1 on the year. Anthony Varvaro pitched a perfect seventh inning and David Carpenter struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning for Atlanta.
The Braves are now 57-45 on the year. They will travel back to Atlanta and welcome the St. Louis Cardinals to Turner Field tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Mike Minor (9-5) will take the mound in the first game of the series for Atlanta against former Brave Adam Wainwright (12-6) of the Cardinals.
